When people receive a gift from Together Made, we want them to see something beautiful. But we also hope they'll discover something more: the story behind the product and the people who made it.
The idea for Together Made was shaped by experiences that began long before the business itself. Growing up in Bangladesh, Thailand, and India, I saw firsthand how meaningful employment can transform lives, families, and entire communities. Later, through my work in international development, ethical fashion, and microfinance, I met countless makers, artisans, and entrepreneurs whose skill and determination deserved access to broader markets.
Those experiences continue to guide how we source every product that finds its way into a Together Made gift box.
We look for partners who share a commitment to treating people with dignity and respect. Many of the organisations we work with are social enterprises, fair trade businesses, or purpose-led producers creating employment opportunities for women, survivors of exploitation, smallholder farmers, people with disabilities, and other communities facing barriers to economic opportunity.
But impact alone isn't enough.
We believe products should be chosen because they are genuinely beautiful, useful, and thoughtfully made. Too often, ethical products are presented as something people should buy out of obligation. We see things differently. The makers we partner with produce goods of exceptional quality, craftsmanship, and design - products people love to give and receive regardless of their social impact.
Our sourcing principles are simple:
People first. We prioritise suppliers who create fair, safe, and empowering employment opportunities.
Quality matters. Every product must be something we're proud to gift ourselves.
Thoughtful production. Wherever possible, we seek products that support environmental sustainability and responsible production practices.
Stories worth sharing. We believe knowing who made a product and how it was created helps us value it more deeply.
No business is perfect, and ethical sourcing is rarely straightforward. We are continually learning, asking questions, and looking for ways to improve. What matters most to us is building relationships with makers who are genuinely committed to positive impact and creating products that reflect that care.
Every gift box is a collection of small choices. On their own, those choices may seem insignificant. Together, they can help support livelihoods, preserve traditional craftsmanship, strengthen communities, and encourage a more thoughtful way of doing business.
That's why we do what we do. Because a gift can be more than a gift, it can be part of a story worth sharing.
